The Journey of an Order: From Enquiry to Shipment

An inside look at how a metalworking order moves through the shop: who handles it, how long each stage takes and where time is most often lost.

How Our Workshop Works

Customers usually see only two moments: when they send the drawing and when they pick up the finished product. Here is what happens between those two points — so you understand where the lead time comes from and why some orders take two days while others take two weeks.

1. Enquiry and Task Review

Everything starts with a file or a description. An engineer reviews the geometry, thickness and quantity and immediately spots the trouble areas: an open contour, a hole smaller than the metal thickness, a flange that cannot be bent because of tooling dimensions. The earlier we catch these, the less rework there will be.

This is also where the material is decided: the steel grade and thickness depend on the load and on where the product will operate. If you have not specified a material, we will suggest one ourselves — and we will not spec stainless steel where ordinary painted steel is enough.

2. Quoting

The price is calculated from real parameters: cutting length, number of piercings, number of bends, weld seam length, area to be painted. That is why a rough guess is impossible — the numbers come from the file. You get an answer within one business day, and through the online quoting portal — immediately after uploading the drawing.

3. Production Planning

Once the quote is approved, a process engineer prepares the files for cutting: nests the parts on the sheet to minimise waste, builds flat patterns for parts to be bent, and sets the sequence of operations. For a production run, tooling is worked out at this stage — it is what makes the whole batch come out identical.

Metal is reserved in parallel. If a non-standard grade or thickness that is not in regular circulation is needed, this is where extra supply time appears — and we warn you about it in advance.

4. Production

The part then moves through the workshop along a route that depends on the product: laser cuttingbendingweldingfinishing workpainting. Not every product goes through all the stages, but the order matters: bending after welding is mostly impossible, and painting before welding makes no sense.

The part is checked between stages: dimensions after cutting, angles after bending, geometry after welding. It is cheaper to find an error at the second stage than at final inspection, when every operation has already been invested in the part.

5. Inspection and Shipment

Before release, the product is checked against the drawing and for coating quality. Then it is either picked up in Kyiv or shipped by carrier anywhere in Ukraine. For structures assembled on site, we agree on how to split them into transportable sections.

What Usually Pushes Deadlines Back

In our experience, delays almost never happen at the machine. The most common causes are reworking a drawing that arrived in a format unsuitable for cutting; requirements changing mid-job; waiting for non-standard metal; and approvals stuck on the customer's side.

So the fastest way to get your product on time is to send a correct file and specify the material, quantity and operating conditions right away. We take care of the rest.
