We fabricate metal enclosures, boxes and cabinets for generators, built for a specific model of equipment. A protective enclosure solves four problems at once: it shields the generator from rain and snow, reduces noise for you and your neighbours, protects against theft and lets you safely run the unit outdoors all year round. We design every product around your generator's dimensions and installation conditions — there is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all solution here.
A generator standing in the open fails sooner than one running in a properly built box. The reasons are prosaic:
These words are often used interchangeably, although the designs differ fundamentally. Here is how we distinguish them when matching a solution to the task:

If you are not sure what exactly you need — describe where the generator will stand and what worries you most (noise, theft, weather). We will suggest a design that fits the task, not the most expensive one possible.
The type of unit affects the design more than it may seem — different generators have different requirements for air supply, heat removal and service access.
We also make dedicated designs for units on trolleys and trailers, where the housing has to accommodate the wheels and the handle.
This is the most frequent question and, at the same time, the easiest place to ruin the design. You cannot simply line a box with foam rubber: the material is flammable, quickly soaks up fuel and crumbles within a few months. We use a different approach.
A working soundproof enclosure consists of three layers. On the outside — a steel sheet that reflects sound. Inside — non-combustible mineral or basalt wool that absorbs the sound energy. Then — a perforated sheet that holds the insulation in place and keeps it from breaking down under vibration and airflow.
The second important element is the labyrinth channels at the air inlet and outlet. Sound travels in straight lines, so an air duct with two or three bends lets air through while muffling much of the noise that would otherwise escape through the ventilation openings. Together with anti-vibration mounts under the unit's frame, this gives a tangible reduction in loudness — the generator goes from loud to background.
We warn you honestly: it is impossible to make a generator absolutely silent — the engine needs air, and air openings always let some sound through. The goal of a well-designed enclosure is to remove the harshness and lower the level so the unit stops being a nuisance.
The most common and most expensive mistake is building an airtight box. A generator is an internal combustion engine: it consumes air for combustion, expels hot exhaust gases and sheds heat through its radiator. In a sealed box the unit overheats within minutes, stalls, and in the worst case fails for good.

Ventilation is exactly why we always ask for the precise generator model: the position of the radiator, exhaust and air intake differs between units, and the openings have to face them, not sit "somewhere on the side".
For a generator standing in the yard of a private house, next to a shop or in the shared courtyard of an apartment block, vandal resistance often matters more than noise. In such cases we build a reinforced version: a fully welded body with no removable panels, concealed hinges that cannot be cut off from the outside, a guard plate that protects the lock from bolt cutters, and lugs for anchoring to a concrete base. The lock can be a padlock or a mortise lock — your choice; if needed, we provide two independent locks.
For year-round use we add wall insulation — the same non-combustible mineral material that works both as soundproofing and as thermal insulation. In freezing weather the housing retains the heat the engine itself gives off, so the unit starts more easily and runs more stably. If required, we provide space for a thermostatic heater and a sealed gland for the power cable.
As standard we make the body from steel sheet with powder coating — this finish withstands outdoor use, UV and temperature swings far better than ordinary enamel, does not peel and needs no seasonal touch-ups. We match the colour from the RAL catalogue: to your facade, your fence, or a neutral grey.
For aggressive environments — near the sea, at production sites with chemicals — we offer galvanised or stainless steel. The frame is made of profile tube: it holds the geometry and keeps the walls from "drumming" under vibration.
So you understand what you are paying for, here is the base configuration every enclosure leaves our workshop with:
Optional extras: a soundproofing package, winter insulation, a second lock, anti-vibration mounts under the unit's frame, a removable drip tray for technical fluids, space for a battery or an auto-start module.
We do not keep a stock of standard boxes, because generators vary too much: petrol household units of 2–5 kW, diesel units of 10–20 kW, models with enlarged fuel tanks, frame-mounted and wheeled versions. Every enclosure is built to specific dimensions with service clearances around the unit — they are needed both for cooling and so that you can reach the filler neck, the dipstick and the control panel without dismantling the structure.
Little is required from you: the generator model or three overall dimensions, a photo of the unit and a description of the place where it will stand. We will work out the rest ourselves.
An enclosure does not settle every siting question — a few rules are worth considering before you order, and we always point them out.
Place the structure on a level, solid base: a concrete pad, paving or a prepared bed. On subsiding ground the body skews over time and the door stops closing. Keep a distance from walls and combustible materials — the exhaust and the body of a running unit are hot. Point the exhaust away from windows, doors and the building's ventilation openings: carbon monoxide must not get indoors under any circumstances.
For a stationary installation, plan the cable route in advance — we will place the gland exactly where the body needs it, not "wherever it fits". If the generator will stand under a roof slope, tell us: we will add a reinforced roof or a hood rated for snow load.
The powder coating needs no annual repainting, but the structure itself lives longer if you give it ten minutes once a season. Check that the ventilation openings are not clogged with leaves, dust or poplar fluff — this is the most common cause of overheating after a year or two of use. Grease the hinges and the lock, inspect the weld seams and the anchor points on the base.
If the coating is mechanically damaged anywhere (knocked or scratched in transit), touch the spot up — that keeps corrosion from spreading. If needed, we restore the coating on our own products.
Over the years of building these structures we have seen how hasty decisions end. The three most common:
Many people first look up how to weld a generator box with their own hands — and that is fine if you have a welding machine, an angle grinder and a free weekend. But it is worth honestly assessing the three things DIY builds stumble over most often.
First — ventilation. A mistake in sizing the openings costs more than the whole enclosure: an overheated unit often cannot be repaired. Second — soundproofing. Foam rubber and construction foam do not work and are dangerous next to a hot exhaust; you need non-combustible materials and the right layered scheme. Third — corrosion. A box welded and painted with a brush starts rusting from its very first winter, right along the seams and edges.
We build these structures in series, so we know exactly where they break. If you are still going to build it yourself — write to us: we will suggest a ventilation scheme free of charge; it is no trouble for us, and a ruined generator would be a shame.
There is no ready per-unit price, because the designs differ many times over. The cost depends on: the unit's dimensions, the type of structure (canopy, enclosure, box or container), the presence of soundproofing and thermal insulation, the metal thickness, the number of doors and locks, the complexity of the ventilation assemblies, and the colour and type of coating.

The full cycle takes place at a single production site, with nothing handed to subcontractors: laser cutting of the body parts and ventilation openings, bending of the panels, welding of the frame, metalwork finishing and hardware installation, powder coating.
